Significant progress has been made by services in the city of Edinburgh in ensuring adults at risk of harm are safe, protected and supported.
A review was carried out by the Care Inspectorate, Healthcare Improvement Scotland and His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland, following a previous joint inspection of adult support and protection conducted in 2022.

As Chief Executive, I am proud to announce the Care Inspectorate’s participation in the Equally Safe at Work employer accreditation programme. This initiative is part of our commitment to advancing gender equality in the workplace and will equip us with the tools needed to create lasting change.
Over the next 18 months, we will undertake a series of actions to progress gender equality and to better support victim-survivors of violence against women. By participating in this programme, we aim to position ourselves as leaders in gender equality, demonstrating our commitment by taking meaningful action. This programme will enable us to review and update policies and practices to ensure they are reflective of the needs of all our employees.

Care Inspectorate staff survey 2024
The Care Inspectorate and our joint trade unions have commissioned a survey of staff.
The Care Inspectorate is the independent scrutiny, assurance and improvement support body for social care, social work and early learning services in Scotland.
The survey was undertaken by DJS Research Services.
All of the organisation’s 644 staff were given the opportunity to respond to a survey about their experiences of working for the Care Inspectorate.
The survey, carried out between 4 and 20 September 2024, saw 78%, or more than 500 staff respond.
The summary provides an overview of the themes that received the highest agreement or disagreement.
