Gender equal play in early learning and childcare

Children across Scotland are to benefit from a drive to promote gender equal play in early learning and childcare settings.

The Care Inspectorate, Scotland’s scrutiny and improvement body for early learning and childcare services, and Zero Tolerance, a charity working to end men’s violence against women, have launched a campaign to encourage and positively promote gender equal play in early years settings.

Preventing Infection in Care Trainer Programme

A trainer programme was developed in 2016 to support the implementation of learning from the Preventing Infection in Care DVD and to build local capacity to deliver the education programme.

The programme provides an opportunity for staff with an education remit working in care homes and adult day care services to enhance their knowledge and skills on infection prevention and control education and support them in implementing this into their local training provision.

Supporting people to keep active improves quality of life

A campaign to support older people experiencing care to move more often has been hailed as a success by independent research.

In 2016 the Care Inspectorate was commissioned by the Scottish Government to deliver the Care…About Physical Activity (CAPA) improvement programme which aimed to improve the health and wellbeing, independence, and overall quality of life of older people experiencing care across Scotland.
