Our strategic workforce plan

Our vision in our Corporate Plan 2019-22 is clear. We want world-class social care, social work and early learning and childcare in Scotland, where every person, in every community, experiences the best care and support, tailored to their rights, needs and wishes.

We have considered a number of key drivers in the development of our strategic plan.

Understanding these drivers, and what they mean for our future workforce requirements, has informed our work to identify the main priorities for this plan. The key drivers identified are outlined in the sections below.

Staff vacancies in care services 2018

The Care Inspectorate and Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) published new figures on the levels of staff vacancies in Scotland’s social care services today.

The report comes as the Scottish Government launches a new campaign to promote careers in adult social care ‘There’s More To Care Than Caring’.

We are delighted to announce that the Association for Continence Advice (ACA) Annual Conference and Exhibition will be held on the 18th and 19th May 2020 at the Mercure Bristol Grand Hotel and registration is now open. This year's conference: ‘Fabulous at 40 and beyond’ will celebrate 40 years of ACA, looking back at how far we have come and forward to what lies ahead for our profession, and we hope you can join us to celebrate this joyous occasion.

Consultation on our draft quality frameworks for housing support and support services (care at home)

We are developing new ways of inspecting the quality of care and support, to help support improved services for people experiencing care.

In July 2018, we began introducing new frameworks for inspection and self-evaluation. We are developing new frameworks across the range of services which we regulate. You can find the published frameworks here, and more detail about how we use frameworks on inspection here
