A report into how well community payback orders are implemented and managed in the Scottish Borders Council area has been published by the Care Inspectorate.

In the first inspection of its kind, a team of inspectors looked at how justice social work services in the area were delivering services for individuals who are, or have been, subject to community payback orders.

Joint inspection of services for children and young people in need of care and protection in Fife

Inspectors have identified key strengths in the way children and young people in need of care and protection in Fife are supported and cared for.

The Care Inspectorate is leading joint inspections which focus on how well services are working together to improve the lives of children and young people who have experienced or are at risk of abuse and neglect, and those who are, or have been, looked after by the local authority. Inspectors look at how staff across a range of services collaborate, including social work, health and education staff, police officers, and children’s reporters.

Meeting qualification conditions by 2023

More than 56,000 social service workers across Scotland have to gain qualifications over the next four years to meet conditions on their registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

Both the SSSC and the Care Inspectorate are keen that employers plan support for their workforce to make sure they gain their qualifications on time so they are able to continue their SSSC registration and working in the sector.
