The Care Inspectorate has today published an overview report of joint inspections of services for children and young people in Scotland.

Between 2018 and 2020, the Care Inspectorate led a series of joint inspections of services for children and young people in need of care and protection in community planning partnerships across eight areas in Scotland – in partnership with Education Scotland, Healthcare Improvement Scotland and HM Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland.

Release of Early Learning and Childcare Improvement Programme Bitesize resources


The Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) Improvement programme are pleased to announce they have launched a series of online bite size resources on the Hub today.  These will support services to complete their Key Question 5 self-evaluation.  

The flexible design means all ELC staff can view the four sessions at any time - supporting them to raise their knowledge and skills in specific areas.  Anyone can access them, so it's a helpful resource for the wider ELC sector.  

They are centred on the programme’s vision which is to see an increased number of ELC settings achieve the national standard.

Scottish Government publish adult care homes visiting guidance


The Scottish Government has published guidance on the return of health and social care and other professionals / services to adult care homes.  The guidance also provides advice about residents leaving the care home for day or  overnight visits, group, communal activities and residential respite care during the pandemic.

The recommendation is that, from 7 September, non-essential services should be able to resume visiting residents in care homes.   This is provided relevant risk assessments have been undertaken by care homes and approved by the local Director of Public Health (or delegated representative).
