Guidance for providers on the assessment of staffing levels
We have developed new guidance for premises-based care services, related to the assessment of staffing levels. The guidance has been finalised and is now available here.
The guidance has been developed to ensure that, premises-based services for children and young people, adults and older people have clear information on the effective assessment of safe staffing, which is in line with our quality frameworks, the Health and Social Care Standards, the new Health and Care Staffing Scotland Act 2019, and the introduction of the Safety Huddle and Professional Judgment tools.

New digital features coming soon for registered services
Over the last couple of years, we have been updating our IT systems and will soon launch a new digital portal for care services and providers.
The main features of this portal will mean services will be able to:
- Apply to become inactive
- Apply to cancel a service registration
- Apply to change details
- Apply to vary conditions of a registration
- Make changes to email and contact numbers without requiring approval.
Video demonstrations will be available shortly which will provide a step-by-step guide for each of these features.

Third anniversary of the launch of Stand up for Siblings (SUFS)
Stand up for Siblings (SUFS) is a collaboration of organisations in Scotland working together to promote the importance of sibling relationships for care experienced children and young people. 9 March 2021 is the third anniversary of the launch of SUFS.
The Care Inspectorate is proud to be part of SUFS and we have been involved in several ways, with our Young Inspection Volunteers playing a key role.
