Improvement notice served on Ardnahein Care Home, Dunoon
The Care Inspectorate has served a formal improvement notice on Ardnahein Care Home following an inspection which raised serious concerns.
The notice lists six areas which require urgent improvement, including monitoring the quality of care provided to residents to ensure that action is taken to improve it. Management at the home must demonstrate they keep a record of the level of assistance required by each resident to allow them to move safely; and they must demonstrate that staff working in the home know about and implement good practice in the prevention of falls and the management of pressure ulcers. Management must also demonstrate they are meeting the health and welfare needs of residents in regard to the administration of medication; and they must ensure personal plans are kept for each resident detailing how their individual health, welfare and safety need are to be met at all times.
The improvement notice we have served on Ardnahein Care Home clearly lays out the changes we need to see so that the care provided to residents improves quickly. We are continuing to work closely with the provider and Argyll and Bute health and social care partnership to support improvement. We will visit this care home again soon to check on progress and if we are not satisfied that the matters raised are being addressed urgently we will not hesitate to take further action. Everyone in Scotland has the right to safe, compassionate care which meets their needs and respects their rights. Anyone with a concern can contact us on 0345 600 9527.
The improvement notice is available here.
